TONIGHT ON THE HOMEFRONT: SHOWS YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN

Though SXSW doesn’t begin until tomorrow, we’ve already sharpened our skates for the opening act of this year’s ice capades. AND OH WHAT A START! Today’s triple axle begins at 4pm sharp at 1601 Castle Court, where there is a crawfish boil a boilin! But first, a credibility establishing anecdote:
On a recent flight back from London, the Skyline Network Most Extreme Party Call Me Private Jet crashed into Newark. As our team of technicians took the Chinatown Bus down to DC to pilfer parts from the John Denver exhibit at the Aerospace Smithsonian, we took the train up to Brooklyn to spend some time meditating with the residents of the ever sage Brodome. Claire, it turns out, was also in town, having biked there accidentally from her residence on Castle Court. Short story made long, our cultural guide, Tony Balls, took us to a park where we met a young man named Fletcher, who, it turns out, is in a number of bands, as is generally the case for people you meet in Williamsburg.
Fast-forward to the present, and lo and behold that very nice young man is bringing his very nice and Creedencey young band (presumable in a very nice large van) to Claire’s digs on Castlecourt. Yep, in addition to “mud bugs” and “tubed meat”, you’ll be treated to a performance by The Weight, who we’ve been told is very good. Read all about it here. NOTE: This is a house party, which is an invitation to someone’s home. Be respectful, bring some scratch for the bands and play the fool only if you come equipped with medical insurance.
THEN LATER, The Skyline Network will be hitting up a warehouse show by Joe Matranga. You remember the band Far, right? Tin Can With Strings to You? Water and Solutions? We’re not trying to convince you, we’re just telling you where we’ll be. The warehouse is over on Mangum, and the show is around eight. Get all the details here. Update: Check out the much more detailed write-up of the show on the Space City Rock Blog.
