OH MAI! ITS OUR SXSW PREVIEW!

HORRAY! SXSW 2008 is here. The Judy's are reuniting for a single show! We won't even bother telling you where it is or when because, let's face it, shows like that aren't for us - they're for people in the industry. Actually, most of SXSW isn't for us, which is why we're not going. Ok, actually the real reason we're not going is due to a tactical error of Spitzerian proportions in that we accepted a paying gig to write a review of show we thought was on Tuesday night but, it turns out, is actually on Saturday. See what happens when you sell out? Lesson learned. So, while we're checking out the hottest unsigned singer-songwriters ever to rock the stages of Rockville, Maryland, know that we'll be thinking of all of you who are going.
BUT WE SHALL NOT SEND YOU INTO THE DARK ALONE! NO! Far from it. By now, you've no doubt printed out sheet after handy sheet of guides to the free day parties and paid evening shows you wish to attend. But have you yet complied a list of when you can see some of the city's finest? OH WAIT, THAT'S OUR JOB! Therefore, we are pleased to present to you the handy-dandy Skyline Network Rather Helpful SXSW Print and Go Guide, in decidedly modern PDF format! ACT NOW, CAUSE THERE'S A MAP! And who doesn't love maps? If you raised your hand, the cartographers shall be upon you in short order! And because of their pummeling blows, you won't be able to bask in the glory of this google map showing the venues in question we created using internets.
ALSO - If you are attending and so inclined, we would love it to peaches if you wouldn't mind sending the occasional text or pix message update our way. Emails are great too. Readers from last year will recall that we will print nearly every field dispatch, regardless of how far from the truth. Har Mar Jandek Star sightings?! Rusted Shut bail postings?! Balcony Collapse?! Nothing is too close or too far from the truth for our rumor bin. Have fun in Austin, take care of each other and watch out for snakes.

AMERICAN SHARKZ is actually headlining the Herndon House show. We were planning on setting Will Ellis on fire so we figured we should round out the bands. There will be BBQ and kegz. You can send donations to the charitable org. of your choice under Will's name in lieu of flowers. 'nuff said.
Thanks fr ta map.
i <3 maps.
printing out rt now.
also, jose sounds skeptical, and i guess you're not gonna be in austin, so we'll have to postpone the reunion show until April.
why would i wanna go to sxsw to see a bunch of houston bands that play all the time? :P
That is SO cool. Thank you.
Ryan, you've done a fantastic job at serving the city of Houston and its independent music scene. I just want you to know that what you've done with your SXSW map will be cherished for a very long time. You're documenting our history, man!
