AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING THE HOOTENANNY

NICE. You may recognize Wittles (Crucial Beach Crew) and Bogle (Bring Back the Guns, Fatal Flying Guilloteens) from the commercial for 2007's Feel Good Hits of The Summer Fest. Speaking of the Guns, they will most assuredly not be playing Saturday night's food-raising benefit at Numbers, nor probably any fund raiser associated with Shelby Kelley, once they read the somewhat nasty little note she sent us earlier in the day:
Subject: a "tip"
Hey runners of Skyline.Net--- I know you guys are all on the up and up with whats going down in the Houstons music scene and all but for a show thats been flyered and promoted like crazy --- you guys sure have managed to neglect to post anything about the Free Press sponsored show going down at Numbers Saturday--- What is shameful about this is that it's a benefit--like no money to nobody but jedi causes---- everything you guys have posted is "an easy 5 bucks"---money is not easy anymore so you should use your sway over the masses to teach them something good to do with it other than put Bring Back the Guns in another local music review.

Now, here is a tip for you Mrs Kelley, and everyone else running a worthy non-profit cause asking for help from someone: Don't be a dick. There is nothing shameful about what we choose to write about or leave to the much larger circulation numbers of the publication sponsoring your event. Also, we have promoted your show now. You're welcome, but obviously we can't recommend that anyone go since Bring Back the Guns aren't playing and this is clearly the only band we care about. Also Also, we have nothing but love for the Free Press, its writers and especially the man behind the mad magic, Omar, and are hopeful that Mrs. Kelley's insinuation that we are somehow heartless selfish bastards has nothing to do with the paper itself.

Uh, This just baffles me.

There are dozens of folks that work with/for us and it is just impossible to stop folks from bumping their gums for crap reasons..

I digs the 'bring back the gats' and have known Matt fer years now. His new haircut is 'aces'. As far as i know, shelby is a fan too. weird.........

Shelby also plays in a band that is playing that night--maybe that is what all the ill will is about.

Anyways--we love you ADR and all the 'awesomeness' you spew. Keep up the clutch work....

There shouldn't be any hard feelings that there were several great opportunities to hear local music in Houston last Saturday. All of the Houston Music blogs seemed to say as much. My group played at Rudyard's and had a great crowd. Hopefully all the shows got the word out and had good crowds. That's what a real scene is supposed to be like: too many good bands, not enough time! I wish I had the chance to get to Hootenany, the Free Press show, the Proletariat, Warehouse Live, and the Continental Club too, but there just wasn't enough time!
