SCENE ARTIFACT: '60s HOUSTON VENUES

BIG UPS to Kurt from Sound Exchange for posting a link on Hands Up Houston to this site, which outlines some of Houston's live music venues in the 1960s. In addition to some history on places like The Catacombs, Liberty Hall and what sounds like the Super Happy Fun Land of its day, The Love Street Light Circus Feel Good Machine, there's a fun though small collection of live photographs and show posters (included are ones for MC5 and The Velvet Underground - woah). GET HISTORIC!

Good stuff. The Love Street Light Circus was a pretty famous psychedelic club. The building is still there and a number of groups have tried to purchase it to put in a restaurant/club.

Houston has a lot more music history to it than most think.
